Barclays Eagle Lab officially takes off
The Barclays Eagle Lab in Guernsey has launched and is now ready for businesses, entrepreneurs and the local community to create, innovate and grow in a dedicated space managed in collaboration with the Digital Greenhouse and the Committee for Economic Development.
The official launch event took place at the Digital Greenhouse on Friday 29 June. Business leaders, politicians, civil servants and community leaders were in attendance and given a briefing of what the lab will offer the local community.
The Lab, based at the Digital Greenhouse in Market Square, will offer a range of services including mentoring, training workshops and support for start-up and scale-up businesses.
Head of local markets and local business banking for Barclays in Guernsey, Justine Gaudion opened the speeches and then Karen Frank, CEO of Barclays Private Bank & Overseas Services, and Deputy Andrea Dudley-Owen, Vice President of the Committee for Economic Development and Digital Lead, officially opened the Barclays Eagle Lab.
The Lab will be managed by Gez Overstall who was appointed as ecosystem manager earlier this year. Mr Overstall is responsible for bringing together a network of entrepreneurs and innovators across various industries and the local community.
“Barclays is committed to helping entrepreneurs, businesses and the local community in which we operate to create, innovate and grow. The Barclays Eagle Lab is a space where ideas can become a reality,” said Simon Phillips.
“It’s exciting for us to finally be able to share the Eagle Lab facilities with the community and look forward to seeing how it helps local businesses to flourish.”
Lucy Witham, Head of Digital for Economic Development said “We are excited to be working with Barclays Eagle Labs on this new initiative for Guernsey through the Digital Greenhouse, supporting and growing our digital entrepreneurs, businesses and the wider community.”
