Ever thought about trying meditation, but don't know where to start?
This 8-week long course helps you develop your practice. Based at the Digital Greenhouse, you will learn various techniques during the sessions and be given guided meditations and encouragement to kick start your new habit at home.
Each week there will be a chance to talk about how you're getting on, any difficulties you are having as well as group discussions on how the mind and brain function and how this impacts us day to day.
The course is based on the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) model which is like the gold-standard of mindfulness teaching. The course has been empirically proven to rewire your brain, reducing stress and improving focus, concentration, quality of sleep and emotional well being. Working with a group really helps you develop the consistency and commitment needed to make meditation part of your life.
The Harvard Medical School has been one of the pioneers in scientific studies of the benefits and healing impact of meditation. What they have discovered is that relaxation induced by meditation actually balances the chemistry of our body to its natural state with no stress or agitation. This then impacts various aspects of our daily life, from better digestion, reduced blood pressure, help to reduce addictions, cure for insomnia, the list goes on.
Hundreds of successful people meditate and many of them credit at least some of their success to the clarity of mind and increased energy they experience, including Jerry Seinfeld and Arriana Huffington. Making meditation a daily habit is one of the best things you could ever do for yourself.
'Sam has been an amazing teacher. I always feel so peaceful after the sessions. She is approachable and knowledgable and conveys herself so clearly at a level that is easy to understand, putting everyone at ease. the course has helped me to come to my breath and use meditation to calm me down. I am much more aware of my body sensations and how I am feeling, which has really helped me gain control of myself and situations as they are, knowing they will pass. I have found Sam inspiring both as a facilitator and as a person.'
