Various Roles

The Office of the Data Protection Commissioner

The Office of the Data Protection Commissioner of Guernsey (ODPC) offers a variety of opportunities for talented and enthusiastic individuals seeking to further their careers.

The ODPC regulates the Data Protection (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2001 (“the Law”) and the European Communities (Implementation of Privacy Directive) (Guernsey) Ordinance, 2004.  This involves enabling the public to exercise their rights under the legislation as well as supporting organisations in the public, private and third sectors to comply with its requirements.  The ODPC is overseen by the Data Protection Commissioner (“the Commissioner”).  The Commissioner is an independent public official appointed by the States of Guernsey to enforce data protection legislation in the Bailiwick.

As of 25 May 2018, the creation of the Data Protection Authority (“the Authority”) will move data protection regulation to a new, independent footing.  The Authority will be responsible, through the Commissioner, for the implementation and operation of the regulatory function under the Data Protection (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2017.

The ODPC currently have the following vacancies:

- Head of Operations and Compliance

- Communications Manager

- Office Manager
