Courses

What is the Digital Learning Centre?

The Digital Learning Centre is the skills and community development section of the Digital Greenhouse.  Our purpose is  to develop opportunities to grow awareness, passion and skills in digital technologies, providing  access courses to increase the number of adults working in the digital and creative sector.  Whilst provision of accredited courses is provided by the College of Further Education, Guernsey Training Agency and BPP Guernsey, there is a need to provide a series of introductory session to support and promote these established pathways.  In addition, The Digital Greenhouse is well poised to assist in developing a digitally skilled and empowered workforce, through becoming the hub for an informal professional learning community.

What do you learn?

Coding, Programming and Robotics  (Ages 16+ - Thursdays 5:30 - 7pm Starting 12th January):

Get your hands on the new EV3 programmable lego and learn to build your own robots.  By joining Coding, Programming and Robotics Club, you will work on challenge tasks and learn to build using high quality motors, sensors, gears, wheels, axles and other technical components.  Take on the role of engineer and innovate to solve real life problems.  Explore how to programme Microbits, using your imagination to turn them into anything from a racing game into a fruit based piano!

The programme is focused on giving a fun, engaging and exciting introduction to digital computing skills to adults, through the use of Lego Mindstorm EV3s and BBC microbits.  Utilising Lego’s 4Cs the learning is scaffolded to enable effective development in an innovative and active manner, learning by doing.

Adobe Certified Associate Testing Centre COMING SOON!

Within the creative digital industries, developing a skilled workforce with capability on the Adobe platform is recognised as an area for investment.  The Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) certification demonstrates proficiency in Adobe's digital communication tools i.e. Creative Cloud software.  The ACA is a prerequisite qualification to succeed in the high demand areas of digital communication and media. It provides students and job-seekers with a valuable competitive edge.  Adobe Certified Associate certification is available for Adobe Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, Premiere Pro, Illustrator and InDesign, validating entry-level skills in Adobe applications. Each ACA exam is a stand-alone certification which is valid for 3 years.
